Most golfers never get real feedback. You film your swing, watch it back, and still can't tell what's actually wrong. Lessons help, but they cost $80 an hour and you only take a few a year.
Pebble Swing does what a coach does with video. It finds the swing in your clip, pulls out the 24 frames that matter, and tells you what's going wrong, why, and what to practise. Every point refers to a frame you can see.
It scans the clip for motion and finds where your swing starts and ends, even in a long video. This happens in your browser, in about a second.
24 frames, mostly from the top of your backswing through impact, because that's where swings go wrong. Your tempo gets measured from the same scan.
Scores for each part of your swing, the ball flight it expects, your three biggest problems with the reason behind each one, and a practice plan for the next two weeks.
Setup, backswing, transition, impact, finish and tempo share one 0–100 coaching scale. 76–81 is the reference band for a solid club golfer. Your experience and the footage guide the read.
The ball flight your positions point to, like a slice or a fat shot, and whether it matches the miss you told it about.
How long your backswing and downswing take and the ratio between them. There's also a metronome you can set to your own tempo and use at the range.
Club speed, ball speed and carry, given as ranges you can compare from one swing to the next.
What it sees, why it happens, the shot it causes, how to fix it, and a drill with sets and reps. Never a list of twenty things.
A few sessions in order, each with a way to check it worked. You tick them off on your phone at the range.
Score trend over time, your best and average, how often you practise, and which problem keeps coming back.

For comparison: GolfFix is free to download, with an Advanced subscription at US$14.99 a month or US$99.99 a year on the US App Store, and its own Google Play data-safety declaration lists your video among the data the app collects. Here, $24.99 covers 100 analyses, you pay once. Checked August 2026.
Payments go through Stripe. If you're signed in when you buy, the pack works on all your devices. If not, it works in the browser you bought it in.

Film one swing from the side or down the target line. Keep the phone steady and the whole club in frame. 3–10 seconds is enough.
Body angles are approximate. Speed and distance are estimates, not launch-monitor readings. Clear, steady footage gives a better read.
Pebble Swing costs $3.99 for five swing analyses, $9.99 for twenty, or $24.99 for one hundred. There is no subscription and no monthly fee: you buy a bucket once, spend it whenever you play, and it never expires. Your first analysis is free once you make an account. Payments run through Stripe, and a failed analysis never costs a read, because the charge happens only after the coaching report comes back. The work your phone does on its own is free and needs no account at all: finding the swing inside your clip, cutting the twenty-four key frames, tracking your body and measuring your tempo all happen in the browser. Only the written coaching read, which calls an AI model, is metered. At $24.99 for a hundred reads a single analysis works out to twenty-five cents, and the pack is yours until you spend it.
Pebble Swing measures body angles from a single phone camera, so treat them as a coach's eye rather than a laboratory reading: shoulder, hip and spine angles can be off by five to ten degrees, and the page says so next to every number. Tempo is the most reliable figure, because it is timed from the motion in your own footage rather than inferred from a body model, and it is only reported when the downswing stands clearly apart from the rest of the swing. Club speed, ball speed and carry are labelled estimates and are zeroed out when the frames cannot support them; they are not launch monitor numbers and are not presented as any. Accuracy depends on your footage more than anything else: a steady phone, the whole swing in frame, and good light will move the numbers more than any setting in the app.
No. Pebble Swing runs in a web browser on any phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to install and no app store involved. Open the page, add a clip, and the analysis starts. On a phone the page offers a record button that opens the camera directly, so recording and analysing a swing is two taps. Because the frame extraction and the body tracking run in the browser itself, the device does the heavy work, which is also why the video has no reason to be uploaded. You can add the page to your home screen if you want it to behave like an installed app. An account is needed only for the written coaching report, which is what calls the AI model; the frame-by-frame breakdown, the body angles and the tempo measurement are free and work signed out.
Film from one of two angles: down the line, standing behind the ball on the target line with the camera aimed at your hands, or face on, square to your chest. Down the line shows swing plane, club path and early extension; face on shows weight shift, spine tilt and where the low point sits. Hold the phone at waist height, take three big steps back so the whole swing including the club stays in frame, and keep the phone still, ideally propped on a bag rather than held. Three to ten seconds of video is plenty, and one swing per clip is better than several. Landscape or portrait both work. Good light matters more than resolution: a bright range bay at 30 frames a second reads better than a dim one at 60.
Roughly three to one, though the number is softer than it is usually made to sound. It comes from John Novosel counting video frames for his 2004 book Tour Tempo, not from a laboratory. When Robert Grober at Yale later put accelerometers in the shaft and measured 43 golfers, the playing professionals came in between 2.5 and 3.5 to one, averaging near 3.0 — a band, not a constant. The surprise in that data is that ordinary golfers average close to 3.0 as well. What separates a professional is repeatability and raw speed, not the ratio itself. And where an amateur does measure low, the cause is usually a dragging downswing rather than a snatched backswing: the two high handicappers Grober measured both took longer going back than the tour player did. Pebble Swing times both halves off your own footage and gives you a metronome you can set to your measured tempo.
Film one swing, three to ten seconds, phone held still. Your phone reads the positions before you sign in to anything, and the first coach's read is free.
