The Open (1951, 2019, 2025); Irish Open 2012

The club sits on a triangle of big sand hills on the Causeway Coast, founded in 1888 as The County Club, Royal by 1892 and under its present name from 1895. The ruins of thirteenth-century Dunluce Castle look down on it and give the championship course its name. From the high ground you can see the hills of Donegal to the west and, on a clear day, Islay to the north.

Harry Colt laid out the Dunluce Links. In 1951 it held the first Open ever played outside Great Britain; the championship came back in 2019 and again in 2025. The course is 7,337 yards. Fred Daly, a member of the neighbouring Rathmore club, was the first Irishman to win the Open, in 1947; club member Darren Clarke repeated it in 2011.
